Our last activity of Stage 1 was a workshop with parents of students at Woolmore Primary School, exploring joyful moments throughout their lives and happy memories of Blackwall Reach. Over conversations, creative activities and refreshments, participants created their own ‘Journey of Joy’. We ran 3 sessions during which we had the opportunity to speak with multiple parents.
A lot of the parents shared special memories from their own childhoods, which was beautiful to hear. We drew connections between memories from long ago, recent memories and hopes for the future. Many of the things shared centred on families, and hopes of being able to provide a happy and prosperous future for their children.
The aim of this activity was to understand the things that bring joy to local people, so we can make sure they’re reflected in the future of the Millennium Green.
